Spreading virus. Vomiting and diarrhea. My boyfriend got it from me and now I’ve got it again. What do we do?
A couple nights ago, I was vomiting every hour for about 7 hours, then every twenty minutes for an hour. I also had completely liquid diarrhea (gross, I know). A couple of my friends had it at the same time, and we all ate the same food. Then it began to spread to a couple more friends the next night, and now my boyfriend has it. A couple of minutes ago, I found myself gagging at the toilet. I feel it returning, and NO, I don’t want to go through that experience again.
My boyfriend is at WORK (poor thing), and he feels as though he shouldn’t drink or eat anything so that he won’t throw up. When I was sick, I made sure to drink plenty of water and Gatorade, or else I would have been dry heaving (and I sometimes did). But, man, I threw up a LOT.
Someone bought me some anti-diarrheal, which allows you to take only 4 per 24 hours, and he took up all 4.
I don’t want him to suffer like I did, and I DON’T want to go on that ride again.

You better hope it’s not the new strand of flu. Did you feel fine one day and suddenly feel horrible the next? If so, then it probably is. Probably not the new strain, though. My advice would be to just get lots of sleep until you feel better. Try not to come into contact with anyone, we don’t want the flu spreading

Norwalk virus is a vicious virus.I rather have the cold for a month straight than this virus ever again! The watery diarrhea and vomiting (sometimes at the same time) is very annoying.
Anyways, once you have the virus and are done with it, you are immune to it for a few weeks and cannot get it again. However, it is possible to pick up another strain.
You could still be recovering so your stomach is sensitive and you need to watch what you eat.I got Noro a year ago and my stomach has never been the same since (although that is not the case with everyone)
Don’t take an anti diarrheal.Your body is trying to expel buggies for a reason and you need to let it run its course. You don’t want the virus in your body any longer than it has to be.
If he cannot keep anything down, he needs to take a table spoon of any electrolyte drink every 10-20 minutes. It is important to keep hydrated.
He might not experience the same symptoms as you.Every ones body reacts differently. What he does need to do is go home so he doesn’t spread the virus to others.
(Just remember that hand sanitizers will not kill this virus.House hold cleaners such as Lysol will also not kill you.You must use bleach.)
The Norwalk virus causes viral Gastroenteritis which is known as the nasty 24 hour bug that causes explosive and sudden diarrhea and projectile vomiting.Usually non life threating but can cause complications in the very young, elderly and those with compromised immune systems.
PREVENTION-Wash your hands before preparing food/eating food and most importantly, TOUCHING YOUR MOUTH/NOSE/EYES.
The ONLY way to become infected with this virus is if you ingest the contaminated fecal/vomit particles through your eyes, nose and mouth.
It is impossible to “breathe” in the virus BUT possible to become infected by breathing in aerosol “spray” droplets from someone vomiting right next to you.(the droplets settle within minuted but can still infect someone until cleaned with bleach)
Even if your whole family breaks out with this virus, you can prevent it by washing your hands for at least 15-20 seconds with warm water and soap.Remember that you are not killing the virus, you are washing it down the drain even if you use an antibacterial soap (which only kills bacteria, not viruses) hand sanitizers are also not successful in killing the virus.
If a member of your family comes down with the virus, let them know to wash their hands AFTER a bowel movement and vomiting.
To clean infected areas, clean with BLEACH.Clean bathrooms (all infected areas) with a bleach solution as soon as possible and be sure to prevent cross contamination and wash your hands afterwards.Especially children! wipe down all commonly touched objects like door knobs, faucet handles, light switches, toilet flushers etc.
People are STILL contagious even after 24 hours after their symptoms settle down so it is always important to wash your hands after the rest room (which you should do anyways!)
The key to staying Norwalk virus free is to keep sanitary.Wash your hands after using the bathroom…you could prevent other peoples misery as well as yours!!
TIPS:Do not share any cups/plates/utensils with an infected person and be sure to wash in a bleach solution to prevent cross contamination with the rest of your family.

Sounds like food poisoning. Most “stomach flu” is really food poisoning. It can be caused by a virus or bacteria. You really should contact a doctor if you have it again. Doctors have some really powerful drugs to prevent diarrhea. The dehydration can be really bad for you. People can die from food poisoning.

You need to decontaminate the house/ living areas if you guys keep spreading it back and forth. Ideally you go to a hotel for 2 days, and hire someone to clean.
Toss out all the food in the fridge, and anything packages that are open in the pantry, cereal, PB, bread… Since you don’t know the cause, and you keep getting sick, why risk it? Toss it all. Kitchen sponges also.
Anything you touch, but have to keep… hit with the lysol. Like keyboard, cell phone, keys, door handles, drawer pulls, pens, remote controls, light switches… everything.
Wash all dirty clothes and linens with hot water and bleach (or color safe). Don’t forget the shower curtains and hand towels.
Your body is trying to shed the virus, so don’t try to stop the vomiting/ diahrea. Drink your fluids, and soft foods. Keep the lysol and clorox whipes near the toilet to clean up to prevending germs.
If you get suddenly worse, or can’t take in fluids – go to the hospital, you may need an IV etc.
