How long does it take to get over a stomach virus?
I got a stomach virus like the flu just today. I started feeling the symptoms around 10am and then I had vomiting and diarrhea a few hours after and was unable to eat anything. I got some 7Up and I just now ate some chicken noodle soup (it is currently almost midnight) and I’m actually not feeling too badly now. Is it possible to get over something like this in the span of a day or two or should I be preparing for a second coming of symptoms tomorrow? (I’ve heard stomach viruses can do this). Just thought I’d ask for some thoughts. Thanks a bunch everyone! (I don’t mean to seem gross. The human body just is).

It’s definitely possible! I have had this happen a few times in my life where I got really sick with a stomach virus and got better within 24 hours. Just make sure you don’t have a fever before you go around other people and maybe even wait another day just to be sure you don’t pass it on any more than you have to.

Viral gastroenteritis is an inflammatory reaction of your intestines and stomach from a virus. The problem may lead to diarrhea and throwing up. It is usually known as the stomach flu. Symptoms comprise of abdomen pain, diarrhea, nausea, throwing up and many more things. You need to prevent dehydration. Try eating such things as cereal products, breads, potatoes, apples and fresh vegetables. For the most part it will eventually subside independently within seven days or possibly less, however if it continues you ought to consult with a doctor.
