6+ weeks of diarrhea and vomiting?
My 14 year old daughter has been suffering with diarrhea, vomiting and gas for over 6 weeks and I have taken her to two doctors and a gastro specialist. Still have no idea what it is. the specialist has given her pariet and motilium and still the symptoms persist. Due back to specialist in two weeks.

Congratulations. She’s pregnant.

She may have some sort of intestinal/stomach infection. Normally I would say food poisoning, but 6 weeks is way too long for that.
I can’t believe you have to wait two more weeks, it sounds terrible. I really hope she gets better soon!

You haven’t mentioned how often your daughter has to pass stools per day and has the frequency reduced after medicines from the specialist
Diarrhoea is common in children/teenagers following even a small insult to their bowels , which can be due to fried foods , soft drinks,.tea change in food habits and even due to stress
Foods such as toast , apple help to control diarrhoea and to avoid milk as lactose tolerance is also common in this age

The worst part of seeing a specialist is the wait. If it gets really bad or there are any changes, you should definitely call the office and either try to get an earlier appointment, or at the very least, leave a message for the doctor.
Don’t forget that the patient has a responsibility, too. Research research research! Take notes during your visit. Follow your instincts – if you and your daughter feel that the doctor is missing something, don’t let them blow you off! Insist on quality medical care.
I hope your daughter has a diagnosis soon, I wish her well.

Is the flu different from the "stomach flu" or is it the same thing and just affects certain people differently?
